Joa and Mom

May 9, 2009 8:18 am

Here's our son, Joa, fresh out of the womb, at roughly 8:30 am in the morning on Saturday, May 9, 2009, one day before Mother's Day. Shinobu checked into Narimasu Hospital (成増産院). Joa was born, weighing in at 3702 grams and 52 cm in length, or roughly 8.2 lbs. and 20.5 inches.

Joa, in Hebrew, is a derivative of the name Joshua, or Jehovah, meaning, the 'name of God', and also carries the meaning of 'brother'. We pray the Joa will be a good brother to his future siblings, Lord willing, as well as those around him. "Jo" also means 'God is gracious.' Joa is a short first name to balance out his lengthy last name, Luedecke-Kobiki.
It can also be easily pronounced cross-culturally.

He is 1/4 Caucasian and 3/4 Japanese. We plan on registering him with the US Embassy so he can be a dual citizen. Our prayer for Joa is that he will grow in wisdom and stature like our Lord Jesus, that he would love God and people, that he would be physically and mentally strong, morally straight, and have a good sense of humor ;)

We love you Joa!
